Medora, N. D. — Former White House Military Staff (members of the elite White House Communications Agency) just completed a 4-day annual reunion at the brand-new Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in this tiny western North Dakota town, population 121.

When Bill Brockett first proposed the idea of a North Dakota reunion to his WHCA “partner-in-crime”, Mike Ebbing, the thought of people coming to the very remote northern Great Plains Badlands was, to say the least, a big question mark. But with the pending grand opening of the TR Library and the country’s 250th anniversary, we decided to put out some feelers. And the response was overwhelmingly positive!

After 16 months of planning, our North Dakota party kicked off the evening of September 10 with an orientation dinner in the Town Square Show Hall. Then things moved up the hill to the new Library beginning on the 11th. After a day full of activities and a delicious plated dinner in the library’s East Wing, our group was honored to present the 25th anniversary 9/11 program to about 200 guests in the library’s beautiful Barry Auditorium. This 2-hour panel discussion and interview was followed by Mr. Brockett having a book signing of his new memoir, Follow The Yellow Line, in the foyer.

On the 12th, our group hosted a second public program in the auditorium, Wives’ Tales & War Stories, featuring WHCA spouses and other alumni. Then came the Pitchfork Steak Fondue (our “Wheels Up Dinner), followed by the spectacular Medora Musical, a 2-hour, outdoor production that can’t possibly be explained. It has to be experienced!

All I can say is, if you missed it, you missed it. If you were one of the 37 who attended, I know you went away with memories that will last a lifetime!
